THE HIDDEN EPIDEMIC: Independent Living towards Young Adults with Diverse Abilities in Malaysia.

Increasing of employability of persons with special needs has always been one goal of independent living within the broader goals of consumer decision-making control and community participation. They are people with gifts to offer, experiences to teach and hopes to fulfill. As such, the workplace offering job opportunities will be a stepping stone for them to be more economically independent in ensuring them a valued role in the community.

BLURRING BOUNDARIES THROUGH ECOTHERAPHY
Spaces that is developed with these young adults’ personality. A Salutogenic approach with the use of specially designed equipment, strident colours and variety of textures, allowing recreation areas to promote exchange, learning and discovery. Emphasizing the views towards the water body, the lake; Injection of greens inside out, blending in horizontally and vertically.
The paradise of therapeutic atmosphere, environment, and surroundings. It is aim to achieve a holistic therapeutic feeling throughout all the spaces within and beyond the boundary. Landscape greens play the major role whereas the lake behind helps to enhance it. Terrace landscape brings numerous benefits, most importantly, it provides social security to the community.

Therapy "Pods"
The idea of having therapy pods slotting in the middle of landscape with random patterns, it gives certain privacy when two pods are further. Trees with lower trunks and have large span width are preferred to be part of these pods are it helps to create a layer of screening together with the low bushes. These pods are specially create for the young adults to come over when they need a piece of mind, a slightly enclosed outdoor spaces for them to have their own privacy. (Yes, outdoor spaces don't need to be fully open and public all the time). In the same time, helps to balance them mentally and physically.
Terracing - Injecting Happiness
From the bare sloppy contour to a terrace of landscape where it gives plenty of advantages, most importantly, it creates social security, a safer surroundings for the young adults compared to the sloppy one. Exploration of the most common ideas of having contour terracing, with hints of elements to enhance the creativity, the holistic atmosphere and most importantly, accessibility.
